Postponement – Monday’s session

Following last week’s field trip and this week’s placemaking session, we are keen to take stock of your comments and suggestions and work with our design team to explore how we can incorporate these, if possible, into the proposals for Seaburn.

With this in mind, we are postponing Monday’s session, which was scheduled to take place at the Marriott at 6pm.

We are 100% committed to working with you, as critical friends, to develop a detailed plan for the area, that builds upon the outline plan submitted last November – which were approved last month – to create an attractive destination that can be enjoyed by people from in and around the city, and beyond.  We will be rearranging both the planned field trip to seaside resorts, and the summing up session over the coming weeks, so please keep an eye on Shaping Sunderland and our Twitter account for more information.

Really? I have looked, and there is nothing there of substance. Frankly I get more information from the workmen on the Site than I do from you …TIME FOR YOU TO STEP FORTH AND DECLARE WHAT IS GOING ON ? Here my latest info as of a while ago.

    “Dear Mr Akien,

Further to our conversation last week I promised find out what plans there were to demolish the Seaburn Centre. I have since received the below response from Sunderland City Council, the contents of which are elf-explanatory:

The demolition is expected to take between 4-6 months, with a large proportion of this being survey work and tender preparation where there will be not physical works. This process has commenced but we are programming any site works not to commence until after the summer holidays to minimise disruption from noise, dust etc. However we are also conscious about the illuminations event and to try and ensure the works don’t impact on them.

It is therefore likely to be Late September when on site work commences

If we can be of further assistance on this or any other matter in the future, please get in touch.

    Best wishes,
    Miles

So, nothing from you as of of late? I suggest that you get your public relations people off their collective bums and demand that they start earning their fees.

    Best Wishes ,
    Arnold.
