Looking at the revised plan for Seaburn it shows a distinct lack of parking. The parking has been reduced while it is expected that much bigger footfall will ensue. This really needs to be thought about. In a nearby smaller development with a similar amount of parking it is found that parking spaces are filled most days and cars are turning away to other venues.

Hi Richard,
Thanks for your comments. The transport consultants working on the project have already carried out a study on the amount of parking currently used and will be carrying out another study in the coming weeks. We want to ensure that there is adequate parking for existing communities as well as additional visitors in the future. The studies will help us understand the current demand and, along with consultation with the council’s planning and urban design officers, we will work out what the necessary parking requirement is for the site in the future.
I have added yoour email address to our mailing list, so you will receive invitations to future consultation events in Seaburn and we welcome any further comments you have on the developing plans.
Kind regards,
Emily, URBED

Hi Grant,
We understand you are keen to view and comment on the plans. We are arranging a public event shortly where we will be exhibiting the masterplan for the area. We will advertise the date and location when we have confirmed with the venue. We have met with local Councillors and they are aware of the masterplanning work we are doing, but they wont have the plans to show you yet.
Kind regards,
Emily, URBED

All these houses are going to have children living there. Where are all the children going to go to school? Fulwell and seaburn dene are pretty full. The children from South bents have always had to travel, think it’s time the council built a new school in the area. As the government are increasing the hours available for three year olds and soon two year olds will be offered hours in nursery, this would be a fab opportunity to build a school with a swimming pool (as all children need to swim 25 metres. The pool could be open to the public during the holidays bringing in revenue for the school and council.

Hi Dorothy,
Many thanks for your comments and ideas. The developers will be providing a contribution (known as a Section 106 agreement) to the Council to pay towards education facilities. This may cover increasing local school capacity or providing funding towards a new school in the area – we should have more information about this at the next exhibition.
Many thanks,
Sange, URBED

I’d like to know how the contracts were awarded and to whom? Were they offered out to tender or was there a preferred party?

Hi Tony,
Carillion Developments and igloo Regeneration were selected by Sunderland City Council to form the Local Asset Backed Vehicle that is now Siglion, following an open tender process.

Hi Mrs f,
I apologise if you were told that- We gave people 2 weeks to complete and return the surveys and so we wouldn’t have had time to process and release the data on the day we finished getting it all in!
We had a huge response which was great but it has meant that collating the information has taken longer than usual.
We’re hoping to release a summary of the results this week so keep an eye out on the blog for that.
Thanks for getting in touch,
Vicky
